Media Accreditation Disclosure
- Media credentials are reserved for working editorial staff of print, broadcast and online news media.
- Previous accreditation does not guarantee the issuance of media credentials for this or any future Los Angeles Times special event.
- Requests for media credentials may be declined if the minimum accreditation requirements are not satisfied.
- Credentials are non-transferable and revocable. They may not be altered.
- Acceptable forms of photo identification (see below) must be presented when picking up credentials. No media credential will be issued without it.
- Attempted use of expired Los Angeles Times Festival of Books media credentials will result in their confiscation. Replacement credentials will not be issued.
- The number of media credentials issued per individual news organizations may be limited, depending on the number of requests received for accreditation.

Media Accreditation Requirements
Previous accreditation does not guarantee the issuance of media credentials for this or any future Los Angeles Times special event. All applications submitted will be reviewed for approval.
If approved, all members of the media will be required to show a valid photo ID and business card. We reserve the right to request proof of assignment or examples of recent bylined work.
Acceptable Forms of Photo Identification
- Valid (current year) news media credential issued by a law enforcement agency, e.g., Los Angeles Police Department, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department
- State driver’s license
- Passport
Non-Eligible Individuals
- Publishing house representatives, including publishers, publicists or sales, advertising, marketing executives
- Non-editorial staff of any news organization, including account/sales staff, engineers
- Talent scouts, program bookers, researchers
- Friends or family members of working news media representatives

Notification
All media credential applications will be reviewed upon completion and if approved confirmation will be provided in a separate email 1 week prior to the Festival with pickup instructions.

Media Check-In
If approved, confirmation emails will be distributed with details on credential pickup at Rogers & Cowan offices the week prior to the event, more information will be provided. There will be NO on-site credential pickup unless previously arranged in advance with Rogers & Cowan.

Media Kits
Information kits will be available when credentials are picked up as well as in the Media Room in Torry Webb Room in the Hancock Building, near the corner of Figueroa Street and Exposition Park.

Media Access
Media are not allowed into the Authors’ Green Room.
Attempted use of expired Los Angeles Times Festival of Books media credentials to gain admission to author/panel sessions will result in their confiscation.
Los Angeles Times Festival of Books media credentials are not valid for admission to the Los Angeles Times Book Prize awards ceremony.

Panel Session Admission and Seating
All seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Seating for credentialed media is not guaranteed for any author/panel sessions. An early arrival to panel sessions is recommended.
If you arrive late to a session:
- Please contact the on-site room captain for help in finding an open seat, if available. No one will be seated near the stage or podium once the session has begun.
- Once a session is in progress, it may not be possible to install audio recording equipment near the stage or podium or video recording equipment in the panel room.
Media Center Room
The Media Room will be located in the Torry Webb Room in the Hancock Building, near the corner of Figueroa Street and Exposition Park.
Hours: 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday; 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Sunday.
Festival media credentials will be required for use of the Media Room.
The Media Room is intended only for short-term use or story filing.
Interview rooms may be available, upon request, for interviews or audiotaping, on a first-come basis.
Media Parking
Self-service parking ($10 daily) will be available in:
- Gate 3 – PSX at the intersection of Figueroa Street and USC McCarthy Way (across from The Lab Gastropub)
Author Interviews
Reporters are strongly encouraged to arrange author interviews prior to the Festival. Interviews are subject to author availability.
Requests for On-site Interviews
Requests for on-site author interviews must be made in advance of the festival to the appropriate publicist. Interviews are subject to author availability.
It may not be possible to schedule interviews during the event. Interviews are subject to author availability.

Remote Broadcasts
Cable television outlets interested in broadcasting from or establishing a stationary set on-site should submit their requests at least two months in advance of the event. Radio outlets may request the use of an interview room. There are a limited number of rooms, which will be made available on a first-come basis.
A needs assessment will be conducted for each request and will include, as appropriate:
- Crew/staffing
- Location/site configuration
- Power
- Telecommunications
- Transportation and parking
- Equipment storage
- Off-hours access
- Security
While The Los Angeles Times will make every effort to accommodate all technology requests, The Times will not be held responsible for any technology failures.

Filming and Photography
Short-term videotaping (news purposes) of speakers or panel sessions is limited to credentialed media. Other videotaping may be allowed at the discretion of the speaker(s). Contact festival media relations staff at least two weeks in advance of the event.
- No flash photography will be allowed during an author or panel session.
- No festival signage or branding is to be moved, altered or removed from its original location.
- Unless authorized, videotaping—particularly that requiring artificial lighting of any kind—of an entire panel session is prohibited.
